WALK WITH ME AS I JOURNAL MY TIME ON RIKERS ISLAND
In the summer of 2002 I was detained, and my home was invaded by the detaining officers, for the heinous act of traveling to check my mailbox with a dime bag of weed in my pocket, and a pocket knife on my belt. The subsequent search produced a quarter-pound of marijuana and a semi-automatic rifle that I kept in my home for protection. I lived in Raleigh, NC at the time.
This event triggered what was destined to be a 15 year saga of pain, deprivation, loneliness, training, education, and personal empowerment that began with a 2-3 year stint on the run from the FEDS, and a one year sentence on Riker’s Island. What you are about to hear are my authentic, real-time thoughts whilst serving my time there, related from a journal that I kept and wrote in daily during that time.
